Michael Boylan
Director of Strategy, People and Culture
Michael is the Director of Strategy, People and Culture at the university, where he provides strategic leadership across several key areas. He is responsible for developing and implementing the university’s corporate strategy, ensuring seamless integration of business operations, academic priorities and long-term institutional objectives in collaboration with senior leadership.
Michael’s diverse portfolio includes overseeing Corporate Communications, which covers internal communications, media relations, public affairs, social media and Gaelic. Additionally, he leads the Human Resources; Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion; and Organisational Design functions, providing strategic guidance on all people-focused matters across the institution.
Before joining UHI in 2023, Michael brought over 25 years of expertise in operational and strategic leadership, human resources and organisational development. His career spans senior leadership and non-executive roles across a wide range of industries, including higher education, energy, retail, culture, tourism and leisure.
