Biography

Since the 1980s, Mike's research has focussed on the environmental influences on animals and plants of sandy and rocky seashores. An early interest in the effects of changing temperatures from year to year has proved prescient. His most work has applied knowledge of changes in seashore species to understanding global responses of biodiversity (plankton and fishes) to climate change.
