First CIALL advisory panel meeting
LSI's new CIALL project ("Collaborative Interdisciplinary & Applied Linguistic Links"), launched in June, held the first meeting of its Collaboration Advisory Panel on 10th July, at which most of the eight participating Scottish universities were represented.
Following the formal closure earlier this year of the predecessor Soillse project, CIALL is intended to build upon its positive legacy with a renewed community focus, coupled with an outward-looking national and international perspective.
In addition to UHI, the other Scottish universities with participating staff so far are Aberdeen, Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian, Heriot Watt, St Andrews, Strathclyde, and West of Scotland, with cross-disciplinary representation ranging across Health Studies, Computer Studies, Media Studies, Economics and Social Sciences as well as Linguistics and Celtic Studies. A further seven universities and research institutes from outside Scotland ranging across Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and North America are already affiliated, as the project simultaneously builds local and international community links.
