UHI North, West and Hebrides has partnered with the Institute of Engineering Technology to host a series of lectures at its Stornoway campus.

Ally Macleod, an engineering lecturer at UHI North, West and Hebrides and IET Western Isles branch member, said:

“We are delighted to partner with IET to host this series of free public lectures. Engineering is a dynamic sector, constantly evolving with technological advancements, as well as political, social and cultural shifts. It also faces a skills shortage amid unprecedented demand from renewable energy, aerospace and defence, infrastructure and construction. We hope this lecture series will highlight the opportunities in the industry, the role of colleges and universities in training, education and research, and key themes for the future.”

The next event will be led by Dr Brian Michie MBE. Dr Michie will reflect on his career and the evolution of emergency medical practices. Dr Michie was awarded an honorary fellowship of the University of the Highlands and Islands for his sustained and longstanding contribution to the health and welfare of remote and rural communities in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

All the lectures are free and open to IET and non IET members.

Coming up:
