Perth students accepted into prestigious drama school
Two UHI Perth Musical Theatre students have been accepted into a prestigious drama school in Glasgow.
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) only accept limited numbers of applicants per year for their Musical Theatre degree course.
Student Kasper Bennett said: “I was finishing my HND in Musical Theatre and decided that I wanted to continue my studies and go on to drama school. So, I auditioned for the RCS, going through two rounds. The first audition was via video, and then in-person, before being accepted and I'm excited to start!
“I think my UHI Perth course really set me up to get there, it's helped me build my confidence so much and figure out who I am as a performer - which I think is important in a place like the Conservatoire.”
Student Thomas Wyatt added: “Now that I've come to the end of my HND, I got a place at RCS in Glasgow, which is great just because I never thought I would get into any Musical Theatre degree course.
“I think my two years here have helped my confidence, it's helped with just growing as a person and maintaining the skills I had and helping them grow to the place where now I feel like I am comfortable to move on and pursue this as a career.”
Christiana Margiotti, UHI Perth Sector Development Director Creative and Cultural Industries said: “We’re thrilled Kasper and Thomas have got into the RCS, this is testament to their hard work, dedication and talent. We’re delighted to have been part of their learning journey and wish them all the best in their future career.”
