Session Outline

Do your Ally accessibility scores show inaccessible PDFs as a recurring problem? If so, this session will give you some guidance on how you might tackle the issues.

We will begin by giving an overview of what current resources are available to support staff in making their learning and teaching materials accessible. We will then go on to an outline of Ally and it’s features before doing a closer look at the accessibility of PDFs.

We will examine the difference paths of remediation for those with the Adobe suite and those without. To aid in this, we will demonstrate a PDF remediation fault tree, which session participants can use with their own PDFs. User opinion about this draft resource will assist us in further improvements. We will also discuss various factors such as copyright, tagging and the limitations of different software tools, that must be considered when remediating PDFs.
