Session Outline

Advance HE’s Aurora programme is a women’s only leadership development initiative and is for women, up to senior lecturer level or the professional services equivalent, working in a university, college or related organisation who would like to develop and explore issues relating to leadership roles and responsibilities.  

​UHI has engaged with the Aurora programme since 2018 and there are 33 Aurorans from a range of roles across the academic partners, and this event will provide the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. 

During this one-hour special LTA Connect participants will hear about the Aurora programme, and from some of the Aurorans about what inspired them to applied for a place, the challenges they faced, and what has changed for them since completing the programme.  

​We will hear a little about Aurora for 2023-24, subject to confirmation of funding of places, and the application process for those who have been inspired by the experiences you’ve heard during the workshop. 

Presenter Bio

On secondment to the Learning and Teaching Academy, since September 2021, Debbie covers: 

• Advance HE Aurora Leadership Development Programme 
• University’s staff development fund 
• Learning and teaching enhancement strand of the mentoring scheme 

Debbie’s main role at UHI lies with the Faculties and Academic Standards team. She works closely with academic staff, subject network leaders and the Deans of faculty by providing high-level administrative support for the faculties in undertaking their quality assurance responsibilities with programme and curriculum development. 

Debbie is a Fellow of the HEA and continues to mentor others to gain accreditation via the Professional Recognition strand of the mentoring scheme. She is also one of the Advance HE Aurora Institutional Champions.
