Our keynote speaker will be Dr Sandra Cairncross, Assistant Principal for Widening Participation and Community at Edinburgh Napier University . Sandra will share her experience of setting up Edinburgh Napier Women’s Network, why Women’s Networks are needed in Higher and Further Education and encourage participants to consider what they can do individually and collectively to address key issues related to women in Higher and Further Education. Colleagues from the University of Highlands and Islands (UHI) will explore what is already being done to address issues of inequality at the university through Athena Swan and Mentoring Support. In addition our facilitated workshop sessions will allow participants to explore their own career aspirations and the challenges they might face in progressing in their career, with practical sessions on how to address these challenges. Our day will conclude with a networking wine reception.
The event will take place at Inverness Campus and is open to all colleagues in teaching, research and administration roles in further and higher education, and to colleagues and leaders from our undergraduate and postgraduate communities. Attending in person is advised to allow for networking and discussion, although we will can offer videoconference for colleagues who can't attend in person.
