Jacqueline King
North Highland College UHI student of the year 2011
Jacqueline, a third year student on the BA (Hons) Business and Management degree, was awarded the title in recognition of her academic accomplishments and personal achievement.
First enrolling at the college in 1991, she completed the HND Business alongside her work at the local Dounreay nuclear development. She hoped to continue her studies, but the degree was not then available locally.
In 2006 Jacqueline began studying part-time to complete the third year of her degree, sitting down to her coursework in the evenings while raising a young family.
Her determination paid off, and on completion of her studies she was awarded a degree with distinction – given only to students whose grades average 70% across all course modules.
She commented, “I was determined to complete the degree course to the best of my ability. It is fantastic that the college can now offer such a range of high level courses.”
