Securing our data and keeping your information safe is our top priority here at UHI. In today's digital age, cybersecurity isn't just a technical necessity, it's a cornerstone of our academic and personal lives.

Every day, our team of cybersecurity experts at UHI work behind the scenes to safeguard our digital environment. From implementing firewalls and intrusion detection systems to conducting regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

While we have robust systems in place, there are many proactive steps you can take to ensure your own online safety:

  • Use Strong Passwords: Create complex passwords that combine letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using easily guessable information like birthdays or common words.

  • Update your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Keeping your 2FA up to date as is very important if you are switching or upgrading your mobile device whilst studying or working with us, it ensures that you still have access to your account and minimises potential disruptions to your work. This can be done by following our New or Lost Phone guide, or by getting in touch with the UHI ServiceDesk.

  • Be Wary of Phishing Scams: Always scrutinize emails and messages that ask for personal information or urge immediate action. Verify the source before clicking on any links or downloading attachments.
If you are ever suspicious of phishing/scam links in your UHI inbox, please contact the ServiceDesk or your local IT Team.
