I chose this degree because I can qualify as a home economics teacher within four years of study. I loved the five-week placement at a secondary school and I now realise that I’m definitely on the correct course. It was exciting and scary teaching classes how to cook, but I had a ball! I was in my element and I can’t wait for my next placement. The facilities available are amazing – a 'classroom' has been created for us to practise in.

Jennifer Thomson is in her second year of the BA (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Textiles Education at our Perth College UHI campus.
