What is special about this course?

This CPD Digital Futures in Health and Social Care (SCQF level 9) course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn about the changing nature of health alongside the use of digital technology. 

The module content will help you to understand how and why we are moving towards digital technologies in healthcare, and equip you with the ability to critically analyse the use of these technologies within health and social care.

Digital futures looks specifically at issues such as big data, surveillance, privacy, ethics, interoperability and information governance. Using a multi-discipline approach of sociological, psychological and political theory, you will gain the ability to understand and apply your learning to case studies and technology thoughout the module.

This module is particularly useful to anyone in employment in areas such as health and social care, wishing to learn about their digital work environments.

  • An SCQF level 8 qualification or equivalent eg a DipHE or HND

  • Thinking about digital health - political: surveillance and privacy 

How will I study my course?

  • Part-time (structured)
  • You will learn through a combination of live and recorded video-conference lectures, one-to-one tutorials, and online study via the university's virtual learning environment (VLE), with support from your tutors.

How long will my course last?

  • Part-time (structured): 15 weeks @ 9-13 hours per week
