Write-UP

content

Write-UP are residential writing retreats intended to provide space and support for colleagues who are seeking to write an article, journal paper, book chapter or another form of publication that is related to some aspect of learning and teaching practice, educational evaluation, or educational research.

This could include something you are currently working on, and which you are seeking space and support to conclude writing. Alternatively it may be something that you are currently in the early stages of planning, in which case the Write-UP writing retreat will provide an opportunity to start drafting your work.

About Write UP

You do not need to be aiming for a peer-reviewed journal article to participate in the Write-UP retreat, although we expect at least some colleagues will be working on publications of this kind. In addition, you could be writing about some aspect of learning and teaching practice, or educational evaluation or research, in FE or HE contexts, or within your own discipline area. You do not need to have any prior experience in writing for publication in learning and teaching, and we will be seeking to make a number of places available to those who are new to this kind of writing.

Forthcoming dates

The next Write-UP event will take place from 11-13 June 2023 in Inverness.

12 places are available and include two nights’ accommodation and meals, along with a £50 contribution to travel for those who are coming from outwith Inverness area. As places are limited, we are inviting expressions of interest from colleagues which should briefly outline what they intend to work on during the writing retreat. Anyone employed by UHI, or its academic partners is eligible to attend.

To submit an expression of interest please complete and return this Expression of Interest form to lta@uhi.ac.uk by 0900 on Wednesday 10 May.  A panel will be held shortly after this, with outcomes being communicated to applicants in the week commencing 15 May. Applicants who have not attended previous Write-UP events will be given preference over those who have already benefitted from attending.
