BEng Aircraft Engineering and Air Transport Operations, 2020

Nurina is currently an Aviation Ambassadors 2024-2026 for the Department for Transport and a graduate aerospace engineer at BAE Systems.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at university, every moment mattered and made a difference to my life. It is an honour to give something back as an alumni ambassador and to help the current and future cohort of students with their university experience."

"I studied the BEng Aircraft Engineering and Air Transport Operations with UHI between 2016 and 2020, graduating in the first national lockdown. Studying at UHI Perth opened so many opportunities for myself, it was a life changing experience. Along with academic qualifications, I came away from university with an array of skills and connections. And being miles away from home enabled me to become independent and self-reliant."

"During my time at university I was involved with the student’s association as Vice President Education and Engagement (2017-2018) at HISA-Perth, whilst also being a student member on the Perth Board of Management. I was also an Interconnect Student Champion 2017-2018 for Equate Scotland. I became a Student Team Member with Education Scotland in 2018, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and were opportunities that I could not find elsewhere!"

Since graduating Nurina has been deeply involved with outreach and the aviation sector through various industry engagement and involvement. She is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society' EDI committee and the Women in Aviation Aerospace and Space Committee.  She is also the Committee Chair for IMechE West Yorkshire Young members.

Nurina was able to use the knowledge attained from UHI to further support the communities she is a part of by becoming a School Governor with the Trinity MAT and Delta Federation, governing 3 primary schools.

Nurina graduated with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering in 2022 from the University of Leeds, and completed a Placement Year with the Royal Aeronautical Society having led the Falcon 2 STEM outreach programme for 15 months.
