Welcome to a review of 2021

During 2021, UHI celebrated its tenth anniversary. It was a time of reflection and celebration on our achievements over the preceding decade, however, unfortunately many of the planned activities were deferred due to the ongoing pandemic.

Throughout the year, we focused our attention on our students, our staff and our vision for the future.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our students who have continued to gain recognition and awards for completing and continuing their studies in the very challenging circumstances. Their commitment and dedication to their studies is inspiring and encouraging.

I would also like to pay tribute to our teaching staff, who have been at the forefront of teaching and mentoring our students, and to our professional staff who have ensured our services continued despite every obstacle COVID-19 has placed in our path.

During 2021, the University Court adopted our new strategic plan ‘Daring to be Different’.  The plan sets new ambitions for growth and development around four strategic pillars: tertiary education, research and impact, enterprise and engagement. Our partnership is well prepared for this period of growth which we refer to as our third chapter. We have achieved a lot in the first ten years but there is much more to come.

Finally, it is our hope is that 2022 will be one where the global community is finally able to break the stronghold of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I hope you enjoy reading through some of the highlights of 2021.
